The evolution and future

Everyone, when looking at an utopian future worry that humanity will become lazy if there would be too much comfort. We would stop evolving! Slack off! Somehow, that would be a terrible thing. Humanity to be lazy and bored would be scoffed at. Scarcity makes humanity evolve, nothing pushes civilization more like war and conflict. But why do we admire this (technical) evolution so much?

  1. Evolution occurs when the environment makes you do it

The environment is both existing natural environment and human-made. We evolve when competition demands it, scarcity, jealousy, but all these emotions and compulsions are derived from the WILL TO SURVIVE. When every individual is afraid that there is someone else who is after their place in the world, then the comforts need defending. This is where we are now. All individualistic, competitive, afraid. We create wars and try to evolve above each other, we do not fight against an outside threat, we consider that we are the threat.
If we would be happy and have our comforts met, we wouldn’t need to gather everything with greed and fear of tomorrow. Maybe we would not need to evolve and become lazy. But why would this be such a bad thing? Why would we be SPOILED? I don’t think it’s even possible because the earth is always in need of maintenance and tweaking to make it even more comfortable.

2. We invent problems to sell our solutions and we call it evolution

We see this on tv all the time. A (pharmaceutical) company invents a certain product, and then, because of economy and laziness (gasp! irony) they try to sell it by advertising it. Kids suffering from ADHD? Grab some pills. We need to sell more pills, so we bribe doctors to prescribe them more and more often. Or, we create a not so popular antiperspirant product. We then market it as a solution to the dreadful sweating „problem” most of us may have! That’s not a problem, that’s normal most of the time! The irony of this way of doing business sits in the current context of scarcity, some people don’t have access to water or food or healthcare (eyeroll) but there is no profit in it. It’s more profitable to market things to people that have the money to pay you, and it’s easier to pretend that they need some stupid product than actually search for real and palpable problems of society. But helping others is not inline with the selfish and scared ways of how we currently think.

I see so many entrepreneurs that have distorted their priorities. They just sit at home thinking day and night: how can I make money? What business could i get into that can make me insanely rich? This occurs because of our societal context unfortunately. They are also not really smart people or just not fit for that business, more so if they do it for the wrong reasons. They create a mediocre product and then market it and lie to make it popular. Like a boss asking for designers to make a viral video. So they create a product we don’t need and don’t even fix a problem we really have. This is simply wasteful. Waste of time, money and who knows what else.

3.  Can’t make changes because that would mean death in the status quo

If let’s say you own a business and it gets obsolete or it doesn’t make sense anymore. There are two choices usually: do the right thing, focus on what should be done to help the bigger picture, or do the convenient thing that is influenced by money, fears, credit, investors, and if you focus on what the conditions are, you may find that they exist for the wrong reasons and also are hard to change because of the complexity of society. (money, banks, wrong interests etc. just jolly things). This is not evolution.

4. We live in two different worlds but both suffer from scarcity

Currently the world is divided into roughly 2 sections: slaves and consumers. It is sad to see how clothes are made by slaves with not many choices, and food that doesn’t exist, water that doesn’t exist. We lately manufacture in large quantities in countries where working is rare and cheap, but compulsory. They make cheap things that are sold at good prices to the consumers who discard them after a short time, because they are supposed to buy more and more. As a result we get the slaves that don’t have enough of anything, and the consumers that can’t stop consuming and always need more. There is no middle ground. The corporations that act as the middle men, or the whole „capitalist” system benefits from this exchange. This is the stupidest allocation of resources I have ever seen. This way we create scarcity in both segments. Lack of food and basic resources, and lack of moral compass and point to it all. We are complete idiots. Is this how we’re supposed to evolve? Does this promote evolution? Doesn’t feel like it. It’s a recipe for self destruction.

Since we have lost all morals in our evolved society and take advantage of the poor and resources just to have…safety and happiness, I do not call this evolution. I call this a lack of direction, since you cannot be happy thinking that your way of life is destroying the world we live in. No amount of antidepressants can fix this. But we do try, shoving pills, watching numbing television, playing obsessive games. The world feels like I felt when I had a horrible job, and nothing mattered to me more than 9gag binging.

I really can’t live like this anymore. Every day I wake up and see constant commercials and promotions, brands looking to enter your life with articles, avoiding new on tv because there’s only one way of talking about the world: „you’ll never believe it” „shocking” „amazing” „jaw-dropping” „Feel the best about #3”  etc. Everything is shocking, weird, amazing, but then what’s left? I look for the real life in between all these insular events, and find that there’s nothing. I want and seek normality and I can’t find it. Everyone does things for the wrong reasons.
I am a designer and I became a designer with the idea of changing the world to a better place. Used to look at all the apps and said yes! This is how I can change the world. I need to do that, help people, make things easier or smarter. What I did? Mostly apps and services I did not really believe in, and everything for the money. They did not solve any problems, they just wanted to copy one service or another and skim off some cash in the process. There were a few doing some hard work for the right purpose though, but when you’re not a strong leader and can’t align people to your beliefs then there’s work in vain.
Almost everything that is related to money-making is also related to compromises, and usually the morals lose. The worst thing I ever worked on was a dating site for rich men and pretty women. So what if the message was that men are 1 to 4 girls? What if most of the profiles were fake? Who cares? We need to keep things going. What if our cars or products are obsolete? We’ll still make them, we need the cash and convince every idiot our products are still necessary.
Killing people and enslaving them for our fashion industry? Quick bucks? Great, let’s add a poster in our shop with how eco-friendly we are since we’ve decided to turn off the light while the shop is not in use.

Caring about carbon footprint? So if we minimize it it’s better than …not having a carbon footprint in the first place? It still fucking adds up eventually. This is one the stupidest things I’ve encountered. How about we change the way we do things so we don’t have to count them?

I can’t even go get drunk without going to a festival and seeing every pillow, carousel, stage with the name of the generous corporation. Everything is about the money.

Buy our pills! Let’s invent diseases. Who cares if that’s ok, everyone is doing it.

EVERYONE. fuck man.

Music videos with naked girls just shaking it because their hardest work is in that perfect body that was difficult to achieve? Looking at the time, OH, it’s a Swarovksy watch. Shot of the car? Audi. or BMW. Shiny. Whatever. It’s a fancy car we get it. You’re rich and we’re envious. Over and over and over this plagued imagery is shown to me and i hate every second of it. I’m tired of brands that loom over my head like a disease. Coca Cola, why do you even fucking exist? You’re poison! Why insist on being a destructive force and then market it as happiness? People are fat because of fucked up foods? Not our fault! Consumers can choose! And we can make it every bit impossible to choose by using marketing, ways of hiding ingredients, weird labeling, because yes, make money, kill people. We need to sell. Anything as long as the bosses are happy. But the bosses don’t care how you do it, as long as you do. Sociopaths are the best at this society, said an article at some point.

Politicians? Serving the said corporations of course. I can’t even remember a good for the people law or proposal. All of them are supposed to help corporations and we to fight it, or roll our eyes of the stupidity and treason of the people we chose to run our society.
I am so tired of feeling angry or sad about everything around me. There’s no way a future like this is going to sustain itself, or that its’ going to be pretty. And why? Because humans are total fuckups and selfish bastards. I do hope you all get it someday.
Even this trend of young people moving alone, raising children with everything outsourced, food, nannies, while slaving away making money (that’s so redundant seriously) is so stupid. This is also a feeling that we need to be alone and individualistic. Nobody tell me  what to do. Living with the parents at 30? So what! It’s a stigma? Who says so? Why? It’s not cool so let’s be upset that we’re not cool? People in the old days used to live together in the same house, helping each other. That’s so not cool anymore. Why give help for free when you can sell it.

The loving universe

Can’t really get out of our heads very soon. Or our bodies. We shift between considering the universe has a conscience, that everything is alive, and materialism. Materialism doesn’t make you optimistic or happy, but a sentient universe makes you happy, content and boy, don’t we wish we could be happy and content and at peace with the universe.

What I’m  having trouble with is if we as conscious being are made in the image of the universe, or if we see it through our conscience colored glasses. Of course we wish it to be sentient. It makes us happy and at peace, because as a species we hate being alone, loneliness makes us scared, makes us vulnerable, it’s in our genes to dread loneliness. By lonely, we mean not having other beings like us, sentient, around us. If the universe is bigger than us, so are our parents. They are supposed to protect us, and that is when we are most at peace. Do we desire to bring that feeling back?

We cannot judge this objectively because we bring feelings into the equation from the start. And what are emotions if not safety measures  given by our body that needs to feel protected and safe?

If we consider the universe is materialistic, that means there’s no happy safe feelings for us. And here is where depression kicks in. I think that all our society lately has issues with lacking the Almighty Parent that God was before we became all independent and „mature”. We are becoming rational, electrified, rebellious, all grown up, demolishing structures, becoming humanitarian. We are going toward structures and building something great with our own sweat.  But the feeling we used to have are slightly fading. Feeling one with the universe may transform into being consciously a part of the universe.

But will this make us even more sad and anxious? And alone not having a Parent to make us feel safe? We’ll see I guess.

To our parents

I read this article about  New power which I found deeply interesting, because it highlights the changes in thought that occurred in the last few generations. Our own parents taught us to become what we are.  Society taught us to become what we are. We grew up with new ideas, only to find that we still need to fit an existing system that is not made for us. Our parents gave us some tools, but did not create the place for us to exist. We have to make that one ourselves.

Never work a day in your life

Many things have bee instilled in us while we were young: Believe in yourself, you can do anything. You can be anything you want to be, work for fun, find your passion and you’ll never work a day in your live. And now everyone calls us lazy and stupid, we suffer from ADHD and depression if we do not conform to the old standards of „just having a good safe job that pays the bills”. We need to feel fulfilled, to feel we have a purpose in this short life on earth. Believing in God’s plan is not a good solace anymore, because…

How wonderful that is. The universe? Planets? We have reached the moon, and mars, we have rockets, and mobile phones. We are taught from a young age that the universe is visible and invisible, but there’s not much space left for heaven. We still want God, but we need to place him somewhere else so he fits in our new Universe. We understand dimensions now, black matter, black holes. We need to fit him somewhere so he can still tell us it’s ok, your life has meaning, even if you don’t know it yet. How can we understand this if we mostly google our meanings and we get fast results? This placement of God is a theme we’re actively feeling as a generation it seems. The social guidelines instilled by religion makes more sense in social norms, accepted as the normal part of being human. Don’t hurt, but love the neighbor, share what you have. Work together to create well being. Solve problems that need solving…

Save the planet!

Save the planet! Don’t litter. Recycling, acid rain, greenhouse effect, icecaps melting, global warming. Captain Planet was our hero. And now you expect us to accept the fact that you are ignoring something you taught us to be true? It’s great my dear corporations. Let the children watch all that culture nonsense (created by wonderful people, because art is emotional messaging), all the cartoons, listen to their music, while we go and make money on Wallstreet or in our nice and ruthless corporations. You taught us that action have consequences. You also taught us that on the planet, we are one. We are equal. We are the same. So why make other children suffer just so you can buy cheap clothing made by people, including children working incredible hours, on inexisting pay compared to yours, in such conditions? We should make sure they stay safe but the governments do not let us…

Create our own governments…?

Which brings us to… what now? We could fight them, but that doesn’t really seem to be our style. We are doing something already. By doing what we love with passion, by not fitting into the existing structure, we create other structures. We create fluid ones, no bureaucracy for we do not believe in it. For the moment, bureaucracy works for the people that invented it, and evolved alongside it: Corporations, governments, and of course, their translators – lawyers. This is one of the things you inherently know it’s a wall. A game of haha you signed something you need a lawyer for to read it. Everyone knows nobody reads that. So why does it still exists? Because corporations need it. People need that too, but don’t have access to it.

It is obvious we are still searching for a form to rule ourselves, but somehow, we might already be there without knowing it. We just need to use the tools provided by the existing system to our advantage, to create a place to live that conforms with our moral standards, the moral standards our parents taught us to believe in, standards that are not necessarily their own.

Keywords and hiring

People that know the right things to be used for the right things are hard to find. There is no system that can connect all the people. The methodology is outdated and I talk about recruiting. CV or portfolio. But there is more. An analysis should exist to establish new usable elements for this selection.
A suggestion :
People should use a keyword system, and the searches to be done just the same. The same way you search for media content may be used oh searching people.  These keyword must be a lot more vast. Skills, interests. Multidisciplinary and particularities that emerged constantly should be taken into account. Twitter is a great example of emerging and flowing keywords.
